New Delhi:
When actress Sonam Kapoor posts a disclaimer of this sort on social media, it evokes first a lament for the lost comma and then wonder about who she's (not) competing with:
Is it Deepika Padukone, star of the acclaimed and much-watched Piku? Bollywood has subscribed to a rivalry between the two actresses ever since they debuted the same year - Deepika in the superhit Om Shanti Om opposite Shah Rukh Khan, Sonam in the poorly-received Saawariyan with Ranbir Kapoor.
Could it be her Cannes compatriots, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (also a rumoured rival of sorts) and Katrina Kaif, neither of who have been savaged on social media as Sonam's furry Elie Saab-clad self has been?
Sonam herself has fuelled these perceived rivalries by delivering sporadic judgement about Deepika's personal sense of style and 'over enthusiastic PR team' on Koffee With Karan, and remarks about being 'on the right side of 30' when she was chosen to be a L'Oreal ambassador with Aishwarya (who was, yes, over 30) five-odd years ago.
Could it be Kangana Ranaut, with whom no such rivalry has been reported but who is surely the current object of envy among a section of Bollywood's actresses after her winning performance as both the female leads in Tanu Weds Manu Returns?
Could it be Sonakshi Sinha, Jacqueline Fernandez, Shraddha Kapoor or any of Sonam's other contemporaries?
Given that we have no answers to any of these questions, we'll simply take Sonam at face value and applaud her for not competing with anybody.
