
Sonam Kapoor plays the role of a small town girl in Raanjhanaa

Director Anand L Rai, who hasdirected Sonam Kapoor in his upcoming film Raanjhanaa, feelsshe is underutilised as an actress.
Rai, of Tanu Weds Manu fame, has teamed up withsouthern star Dhanush and Sonam for Raanjhanaa.
"I think Sonam is under-utilised. The kind ofperformance she has given in this film is amazing. The way shewas involved with the film was tremendous. Wait and watchSonam," Rai told PTI.
Sonam, daughter of actor Anil Kapoor, made her debutwith Saawariya in 2007 which did not do well at the boxoffice. After a string of unsuccessful films including ThankYou, Mausam and Players, she is now gearing up forRaanjhanaa, where she will be seen essaying the role of agirl-next-door.
The 27-year-old has big projects like Bhaag MilkhaBhaag and Khoobsurat remake, besides a YRF untitled filmopposite Ayushmann Khurrana.
The world may be familiar with Sonam's fashionistaside, but the director reveals that in reality she is a simplegirl.
"After meeting and talking to Sonam and her familywhile narrating her this film, I realised that she is a middleclass girl. She is next-door-girl. She behaves in the same wayas any girl would behave," Rai said.
Raanjhanaa, slated to release on June 21, is a storyof a Hindu boy who falls in love with a Muslim girl.
