New Delhi:
Rock band Coldplay is really good at keeping secrets. Last year, frontman Chris Martin played a gig in Delhi that the city found out about the next day. Then the entire band showed up in Mumbai and shot a music video. Now, it turns out that actress Sonam Kapoor will make a cameo appearance in the video for Coldplay's new track Hymn for the Weekend.
She'll be in terrific company - Beyonce, no less, is to co-star.
The 30-year-old actress was quoted by Mumbai Mirror as saying, "I love Coldplay's music and so does the world. It was a huge honour to be a part of the video. It's a great concept and I had a lot of fun shooting for it."
Sonam, who reportedly plays a 'mystical muse' in the Ben Mor-directed video, filmed her part in Mumbai in October. Mumbai Mirror quotes a source as saying, "Sonam shot for a day last October at the Golfa Devi Temple in Worli and the Vasai fort. They zeroed in on a desi look with Sonam in a ghagra choli and wearing the traditional mang tika and a nose ring."
Sonam, a regular on the Cannes red carpet and a front row attendee of Paris couture shows, is no stranger to international attention.
Coldplay earlier tweeted this image of the artwork:
Last July, Chris Martin caused quite a commotion when he made a surprise visit to a New Delhi cafe, treating the crowd to an impromptu performance. He was back in Mumbai in September with his bandmates - Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion - to shoot a video which 'would have something special for Indian fans', a mid-day report claimed.
