Panaji:
Oscar-winning sound designerResul Pookutty has turned producer with an independent movietitled ID.
Co-produced by Resul, the film is being screened atthe 43rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
"It is my first production and I am very proud of theproject. Besides producing I have given music for the movie. There is a lot of young talent which requires platform andunfortunately in our country independent cinema is not giventhat much importance," said Resul.
ID is directed by debutante Kamal KM, who hasearlier assisted filmmaker Santosh Sivan.
Resul, 40, feels everyone should have the liberty tomake the kind of cinema they want and it should be accessibleto different audience.
"You always want to make something withoutcompromising on the cinematic elements. We have tried to dothat. I also feel multiplexes are killing single screens whichmakes it difficult for independent movies to survive. Thatscenario needs to be changed," said Resul, who won an AcademyAward for best sound mixing for Slumdog Millionaire in 2009.
Resul designs sound for Hollywood, Hindi, Tamil andMalayalam films. His work includes RA.One and Musafir.
