New Delhi:
Mahesh Babu's SPYder is spinning an impressive web at the box office. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala tweeted that the film has collected Rs 1.30 crore in two days in Chennai alone and it is looking forward to a 'big weekend.' The box office numbers in USA are equally impressive - Rs 7.45 crore as of Wednesday (including preview shows), reports trade analyst Taran Adarsh. Mahesh Babu's bilingual film released across 800 screens in USA, the second highest after S S Rajamouli's Baahubali: The Conclusion. Here's the most recent box office report card of Mahesh Babu's SPYder, which is reportedly made on a budget of Rs 120 crore:
SPYder has been directed by A R Murugadoss and it is Mahesh Babu's debut film in Tamil cinema. "I've been having sleepless nights. I'm nervous, but at the same time excited. SPYder is my debut in Tamil and I feel like a debutant despite being an actor for 18 years," Mahesh Babu told news agency IANS.
SPYder also received favorable reviews from film critics and cine-goers alike. Ramesh Bala tweeted that some of the audience members in Chennai told him that they liked Mahesh Babu a lot because of his 'soft-spoken onscreen persona.' Similar sentiments were echoed in Subhash K Jha's review for IANS, in which he called Mahesh Babu's portrayal of Shiva as "antithesis of Prabhas' sweaty over-exertive performance in the Baahubali series." He gave the film 4-star rating.
SPYder features S J Surya as the principal antagonist and his performance has also been critically acclaimed. The film also stars Rakul Preet Singh, Bharath and R J Balaji.
