New Delhi : Bollywood actress Sridevi on Sunday (August 12) brought the curtains down for the third edition of PCJ Delhi Couture Week, looking nothing less than an eternal beauty in a white embroidered sari desgined by Sabyasachi Mukherjee.
Sridevi was accompanied by Gauri Shinde, director of her comeback film English Vinglish, and Sabyasachi on the ramp.
The designer has worked on Sridevi's costumes in the movie.
"I am so happy to be here for him. I am honoured that he has designed clothes for my movie. He is a fabulous designer and I love his clothes. I feel confident wearing them and it has been an experience working with him," Sridevi said.
The sets for Sabyasachi's show reminded one of an old English mansion at a hill station with deer heads and paintings adorning the wall, lamp shades on side tables, crockery in glass cabinets and vases on tables.
The collection, titled 'New Moon', has drawn inspiration from five cities New York, Kolkata, Berlin, Paris and Barcelona - and consisted of Ghagra skirts, saris, lehengas, churidar kurtas and sherwanis in shades of green, nude, off-white, red, orange and brown.
"I am so happy that Sridevi has come today and I have been her fan ever since I was a kid so this is a very special day for me. I am honoured to have designed clothes for her.My collection is inspired from the places I have visited and it is furiously fashionable," Sabyasachi said.
Actress Shabana Azmi and designer Ritu Kumar were among others present at the show.
