Steve Jobs to be given posthumous Grammy
Los Angeles: The Grammys will pay special tribute to late Apple founder Steve Jobs at the upcoming awards show, the organisation announced on Wednesday.

The Apple co-founder and mind behind the wildly popular iPod, iPad and iPhone died in October after battling pancreatic cancer.

Mr Jobs is being honoured with a Trustees Award for having helped "create products and technology that transformed the way we consume music, TV, movies, and books," a statement from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences said.

Mr Jobs will be honoured alongside recording engineer Rudy Van Gelder and musician Dave Bartholomew at the annual ceremony on February 12 next year.

A creative visionary, Jobs' innovations such as the iPod and its counterpart, the online iTunes store, revolutionised the industry and how music was distributed and purchased," said the Recording Academy on the Grammys' website.

In 2002 Apple Computer Inc. was a recipient of a Technical GRAMMY Award for contributions of outstanding technical significance to the recording field.
