A still from Ahalya.
Mumbai:
Director Sujoy Ghosh said his latest short film Ahalya is not inspired by author Roald Dahl's story.
Set in a contemporary time in Kolkata, the 14-minute long Ahalya is a thriller, which is inspired by the Hindu epic Ramayana. It portrays the fates of an apsara, a maharishi and rain god Indra through the characters played by Radhika Apte, Soumitra Chatterjee and Tota Roy Chowdhury.
This is what the Kahaani director tweeted on July 24:
Ahalya, which was released on Youtube on July 22 by LargeShortFilms has garnered a lot of views and appreciation in a short span of time.
