Rumour mills held Arjun responsible for Hrithik-Sussanne split.
New Delhi:
When actor Hrithik Roshan announced in December 2013 that he and wife of 17 years Sussanne Khan were separating, Bollywood gossip placed the blame squarely on the shoulders of actor Arjun Rampal. The Don star was reportedly even dropped by his agents, allegedly at Hrithik's behest, the grapevine reported.
However, the rumours don't seem to have disrupted the friendship between interior designer Sussanne and Arjun's wife, former supermodel Mehr Jessia. Sussanne, Mehr and Arjun were reportedly spotted chatting over dinner at a Mumbai eatery recently, looking for all the world as if the reported rift had never been.
When Hrithik and Sussanne made their momentuous announcement last year, a statement from Arjun read: "I read in the news, about the same time as you all, about my involvement in this marriage. It saddens me deeply that rumours become inevitable during celebrities going through such times. Mehr and I wish them only peace and love through these times, and support them as friends should, and we wish them and their families well, always."
Soon after, Sussanne said at the launch of her new boutique Bandra 190: "You can't blame anyone for this. It is sad to blame anyone. We are close-knit friends. It's not right to blame anyone."
Their recent appearance, whether or not it was for the benefit of the cameras, certainly seems to prove Sussanne's "close-knit friends" statement correct.
