Legendary tabla player Pandit Shankar Ghosh has been hospitalised in Kolkata due to heart ailments.
"He is in the ICU of a private hospital in Kolkata. Doctors have said that he is in a serious condition now. He was admitted two days ago. Doctors have already done his angioplasty and are constantly monitoring his health," his son and percussionist Bickram Ghosh told PTI.
The 80-year-old table player was honoured with the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2000. He followed the Farukhabad gharana of Hindustani classical music and has also taught table to a large number of students in Kolkata as well as Europe.
