Tabu played the lead in Gulzar’s Maachis and Hu Tu Tu.
New Delhi:
Bollywood actress Tabu, who has a long-term connection with lyricist-director Gulzar, will be seen in his daughter Meghna's movie Talwar. Tabu was also the leading lady in Meghna's first film Filhaal.
Talwar is reportedly based on the Aarushi Talwar murder case. Tabu will play a character which was originally offered to Shefali Shah. According to a source, "Meghna was very keen to have Shefali Shah play an important role. But Shefali's dates in June and July were taken up by Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadakne Do. She had no choice but to opt out." (Also read:Tabu and Shahid - a strange pairing?)
The Maqbool actress considers Gulzar a father-figure and has been directed by him in Maachis (1996) and Hu Tu Tu (1999).
Meghna Gulzar previously directed Filhaal and Just Married. Both movies, as well as Talwar, have been christened by her father.
Talwar will also feature Irrfan Khan, with whom Tabu has worked in Maqbool, The Namesake and Life Of Pi.(Also read:Tabu discharged from hospital after having breathing problems)
