Tanisha Mukherjee, daughter ofnoted actress Tanuja, would be soon seen in a Marathi film,which, she says is a gift to her mother.
Tanisha made her acting debut in 2003 film Sssshhhbut it failed to garner much attention. The later releasessuch as Popcorn Khao Mast Ho Jao and Tango Charlie alsodid not do well.
Now, the 35-year-old actress has been signed by AkshayKumar's production company for an upcoming Marathi filmtentatively titled Adhantari.
Tanisha, who is of Maharashtrian lineage on her motherTanuja's side, says this is not a shift to Marathi films assuch but she liked the script and chose to do it.
"My mom has done Marathi films in the past and itseemed like a good challenge, so I went for it. For me'Adhantari' is a gift to my mom who loves Marathi cinema," sheadded.
In the film, she plays a Marathi girl of today, grownup in London. To get the accent right, Tanisha also tookdiction lessons.
"Films are in my blood and I know that I will alwaysbe a part of this industry," she said. "The surname willalways put pressure but it's a good thing. It forces you topush yourself. Kajol (sister) is a brilliant actress becauseshe is a brilliant person," Tanisha said.
Recently Tanisha was seen at promotional events ofbrother-in-law Ajay's film Son of Sardaar.
"I have been associated with films regardless of whetherit was in front of the camera or behind. It was a consciousdecision to get into film production to grow in this field,"she said.
"I only did a handful of films because honestly Ididn't want to work in the kind of offers I was getting. MaybeI did not understand the business as well as I do now. So inthe meanwhile I was enjoying donning the producer's hat andlooking at the business side of filmmaking," she added.
