Telugu television anchor Nirosha committed suicide by hanging herself at a hostel in Hyderabad on Wednesday, the police said. She was 23.
According to the police, Nirosha made a Skype video call to her friend in Canada and is believed to have threatened suicide after an argument, even as she was on the call.
Her friend instantly called a common friend in Hyderabad for help but Nirosha was found dead by the time they reached the paying guest hostel in Sindhi Colony area of Secunderabad.
''What provoked the suicide is not yet clear,'' Ramgopalpet's police station-in charge Mohd Waheeduddin told NDTV. A case has been registered under suspicious death case under section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Nirosha's father K Radhakrishna, a resident of Chittoor, has however said that his daughter might have killed herself because of severe stomach ache that she often suffered.
