Oscar-winning actress Rachel Weisz'srole has been edited out of To The Wonder by visionarydirector Terrence Malick.
The famously reclusive director is famed for leaving someof the biggest names in Hollywood on the cutting room floor,the Daily Mail reported.
Weisz accepted a role in the film for the chance to workwith Malick, who has directed films like Badlands, The ThinRed Line and the Tree of Life.
"I had the experience of working with him (Malick), but Iwill not have the pleasure of seeing my work," Weisz toldItalian newspaper La Stampa.
The 42-year-old star said that when she took on a role inthe film, she did so not knowing if it would be "...for fouror five days or three months. In the end I was there just fora few days."
The film stars Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams and JavierBardem. The star's role was cut along with that of MichaelSheen, Amanda Peet and Barry Pepper.
The other actors edited out from Malick's movies includeAdrian Brody, Michey Rourke, Gary Oldman, Billy Bob Thorntonand Martin Sheen.
Brody was furious when his scenes from The Thin RedLine were left on the cutting room floor."You spend all this time in an unfamiliar place, youexperience incredible things, and then you come home, you'rewounded psychologically and you have nothing to show for it,"he had said.
Penn was equally angry when he failed to appear in thefinished version of 2005's The New World."I'm still trying to figure out what I'm doing there andwhat I was supposed to add in that context. What's more, Terrynever managed to explain it to me clearly," he had said.
