London: Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge, who wed Prince William in April this year, will not fulfil any solo engagements until at least next year as she adjusts to life within the royal family.
She will instead support her husband as he continues his training as a Royal Air Force search and rescue helicopter pilot in Anglesey, Wales.
One aide said in the past people who marrying into the royal family have waited up to three years before taking on solo royal duties.
One senior courtier told the Daily Express newspaper: "I don't think it's going to be as long as that but I am just trying to put things in context.
"Historically, women joining the Royal Family do not begin undertaking solo engagements until around two years after their marriage."
Kate has already undertook official royal business alongside her husband, including her first official overseas visit, a trip to Canada shortly after their wedding.
She will also attend certain public occasions with William, such as appearing at the Cenotaph for the first time on Remembrance Sunday, on November 11.
William and Kate are, however, set to spend less time in the public eye over the next year as they step back to allow the focus to be on Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 2012, marking 60 years of her reign.
