New year, new offering from the streaming giant Netflix. A day before Hrithik Roshan's 51st birthday, the trailer of the documentary The Roshans was unveiled in Mumbai. The documentary traces back the legacy of the Roshans - starting with composer Roshan and continuing with his sons Rakesh Roshan, Rajesh Roshan and grandson Hrithik Roshan.
The 3-minute trailer begins with Hrithik Roshan playing a cassette of his grandfather Roshan. Beaming with pride and joy, Hrithik Roshan says, "That's my grandfather's voice. His full name was Roshan Lal Nagrath. It's a very interesting story how our surname went from Nagrath to Roshan."
The trailer then transitions to two brothers, who inherit their father's genius - one in music and the other in acting, filmmaking. From Roshan to Hrithik Roshan - a family which saw heights of success across generations. But success also came with a price. The trailer also arrests the viewers' attention when Rakesh Roshan was shot at by two Budesh gang members near his office on Tilak Road at Santacruz, Mumbai in 2000.
The trailer has a line-up of starry cameos - from Asha Bhosle to Shatrughan Sinha, from Shah Rukh Khan to Priyanka Chopra.
Anil Kapoor, Anu Malik, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Prem Chopra, Vicky Kaushal, Ranbir Kapoor will also talk about their views and impressions about the Roshans on the show. Take a look:
Netflix announced the project via an Instagram post in December. The note attached to the post read, "A profound journey through legacy and love with the family that brought music, magic, and unforgettable moments to Hindi cinema. Watch The Roshans, coming soon, only on Netflix."
The Roshans is jointly produced by Rakesh Roshan and Shashi Ranjan. It will release on January 17 on Netflix.
