A R Rahman did not win a Golden Globe and nor did Johnny Depp, despite 2 nominations for Best Actor. But rejection wasn't the only thing being dealt out at the recently concluded Golden Globes.
Facebook drama The Social Network sent the Golden Globes a friend invite that was accepted 4 times over at the expense of monarchy movie The King's Speech.
The Social Network was top film at the awards winning Best Film - Drama, Best Director for David Fincher, Best Screenplay for Aaron Sorkin and Best Original Score.
The King's Speech lagged way behind with just 1 award - Best Dramatic Actor for His Royal Highness George IV, known to modern day movie goers as Colin Firth.
The Kids Are All Right and The Fighter both scored 2 awards. Annette Bening took home the award for Best Actress, Comedy or Musical for her role as one half of a lesbian couple in The Kids Are All Right which also won Best Film, Comedy or Musical. The Fighter scooped up 2 acting Globes - Christian Bale won the first award of the evening for Best Supporting Actor and Melissa Leo won Best Supporting Actress.
Black Swan was passed over for Best Film and Best Director but leading lady Natalie Portman went home with the Best Dramatic Actress prize. Paul Giamatti won Best Actor, Comedy or Musical for Barney's Version.
Woody, Buzz and the rest of the Toy Story 3 gang won Best Animated Film but were not around to collect the award. Director Lee Unkrich went up instead.
Christina Aguilera got to wear an X rated dress to the show as her movie Burlesque won Best Original Song for You Haven't Seen The Last Of Me.
We'll now have to wait a few weeks to see if The King's Speech gets the royal treatment at the Oscars, or if The Social Network takes the little gold man to the virtual world.
