Milind Soman is one of the country's most popular fitness icons. Through his three-decade-long career in modelling and acting, Milind has repeatedly stressed the importance of keeping one's mind and body fit. And his commitment to the cause is not limited to uploading videos of his exercise routines. While such posts make up a large part of his social media presence, Milind also ensures that he spreads the fitness mantra even when he runs into his fans, off-screen.
The 55-year-old, in fact, came up with a unique challenge to inspire his fans. If any of his fans run into him and want a selfie with Milind, they must perform ten pushups, irrespective of where they are. While this condition has made for several lovely moments, Milind shared one of his favourite “pushups for selfie people” on his Instagram feed recently. In this throwback video, we can see a woman, in a saree, performing pushups on the streets as Milind records the feat and also counts for her.
Sharing the footage, he wrote, “One of my favourite pushups for selfie people! I was in a small street market, I think it was in Raipur, eating some local yum stuff, and this lady asked for a selfie. As soon as I said 10 pushups she was on the ground and started even before I switched on the camera! No problem with saree, no problem with people around, no problem with never having done pushups ever, no excuses at all. Sometimes, all the fitness you need, to be able to live a better life, or get the things you want, is the ability to say Yes, I can do this...And yes, I took a really nice selfie with her on her own phone.”
The lovely clip has impressed his followers on social media. Milind's wife, Ankita Konwar commented, “The battles that you fight are within your own mind. That is where the real victories and defeats are.”
Sharing a similar experience, a user who goes by the name Kamal Naini, wrote, “You did the same with me at Taj Lands End, Mumbai...You asked me to do 20 pushups behind the lift area and I'm sure that I impressed you with my pushups in my dress and that's how I got a selfie...Lots of love...And thanks to you, I am motivated to go for a 10km run daily.”

Previously, the actor had shared a post describing what fitness meant to him. In a detailed note, he wrote, “So much discussion on fitness nowadays. Fitness to me has always been more than six packs and biceps. Fitness starts and ends in the mind, which is the weakest part of most of us, and the body follows where the mind leads. Sometimes to great heights, sometimes to destruction, the choice is mine."
