Tintin, Rango and Rio in animated films' Oscar race
Los Angeles: Eighteen animated features, including Steven Spielberg's The Adventures of Tintin, Kung Fu Panda 2, Rio and Rango are in the run for a nomination at the 84th Academy Awards.

There could be as many as five nominees for best animated feature film at the the Oscars 2011 if all the 18 films qualify.

The list includes films which have already released, like Puss in Boots, Cars 2, and those that are yet to be released--Arthur Christmas and Happy Feet Two, said The Hollywood Reporter.

At least eight of the movies also must be released theatrically in Los Angeles County before the end of the year before they will be fully qualified. Once they complete thatrun, the films will also be eligible in other categories beyond feature animation.
