A still from Titli.
New Delhi:
The trailer of Titli documents the desperate attempt of the protagonist, played by Shashank Arora, to escape the clutches of his family and their business of carjacking. Titli, which means butterfly, is both his name and a reference to the freedom he seeks.
Titli is the youngest member of a family that makes its living by crime and controls his life, including arranging his marriage. The trailer also highlights the symbiotic relationship he shares with his wife, played by actress Shivani Raghuvanshi.
Then comes the twist in the tale.
Directed by Kanu Behl, who is making his debut with the family drama, the movie also stars actors Ranvir Shorey, Amit Sial, Prashant Singh and Lalit Behl. Titli was screened in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival in 2014, where it was nominated for the Camera d'Or.
Titli is co-produced by Yash Raj Films and filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee and opens on October 30.
