Akshay Kumar will be playing the role that made him famous 12 years after the last film
New Delhi:
Akshay Kumar will be seen playing his favourite screen character in new film Khiladi 786 which releases today. It is the eighth film in the Khiladi series after Khiladi (1992), Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994), Sabse Bada Khiladi (1995) , Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi (1996), Mr And Mrs Khiladi (1997), International Khiladi (1999) and Khiladi 420 (2000).
Akshay will be playing the role that made him famous 12 years after the last film. He said, "I feel great about it. It had never gone away from me, I always used to do risks and it's great because Khiladi is a word which means a player, a sportsman. You can connect it with anything, so it's great coming back to it."
Directed by Ashish R Mohan, the movie is an action-comedy with Asin in the female lead. Asin, who plays a Marathi girl in the film, reportedly had to learn the language.
The Pakistan Censor Board recently banned advertisements for Khiladi 786 because the number 786 is revered by some Muslims and could hurt their sentiments. The Censor Board also directed cinema halls and distributors not to release the movie's trailers and to remove billboards for the film. Like other Bollywood stars, Akshay Kumar has a sizeable following in Pakistan.
The movie is produced by Twinkle Khanna, Himesh Reshammiya and Sunil Lulla and also stars Mithun Chakraborty, Paresh Rawal and Raj Babbar.
