New Delhi:
Oscar award-winning director Ang Lee's newest film Life Of Pi releases today. Based on the Man Booker prize winning novel of the same name by author Yann Martel, the movie tells the tale of a young boy named Pi, who is the only person to survive the sinking of a cargo ship. He finds himself on a lifeboat with a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan, and a Bengal tiger.
According to director Ang Lee, the movie has been the most difficult film of his life. "Undoubtedly this was the most difficult film of my career. It took me three and a half years and 3,000 crew members to complete the project. It was a herculean task to make an engaging story, which is only about a young boy on a lifeboat with few animals," He told reporters recently at a press conference.
Delhi-based Suraj Sharma plays young Pi in the film while Tabu and Irrfan Khan feature in key roles. Life Of Pi was also the opening film at the ongoing 43rd International Film Festival of India held in Goa.
The movie has been shot in 3D as according to the director, he wanted the movie to be visually engaging.
