This week there is a mixed bag of movies releasing including a long-awaited starring role by Chak De! India girl Shilpa Shukla in Ajay Bahl's B.A. Pass and a lost Joy Mukherjee-Waheeda Rehman goldie called Love In Bombay.
B.A. Pass, which won the Best Film Award at the 2012 Osian's Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema, is set in the seedy bylanes of Delhi's Paharganj area and deals with the relationship that unfolds between a young small-town boy and an older woman. Apart from Shilpa Shukla, the film features Shadab Kamal, Rajesh Sharma and Dibyendu Bhattacharya.Late actor-director Joy Mukherjee's last film Love In Bombay releases today 40 years after it was made in 1973. The movie is the third installment in the Love In series which started with Mr Mukherjee's debut film, the blockbuster Love in Simla (1960) followed by the golden jubilee hit Love in Tokyo (1966). The movie, which is directed by Mr Mukherjee, stars himself with Waheeda Rehman, Ashok Kumar and Kishore Kumar. The music of the film was composed by Shankar-Jaikishan. The film is an adventurous romantic tale about an innocent young man, Badal, who meets an arrogant city girl, Preeti, on a ship.
Hollywood has a good showing at the box office today. After the success of their first film The Smurfs, the little creatures will revisit the box office this week with the second installment titled The Smurfs 2. The movie revolves around Smurfette who has been kidnapped leaving the other smurfs Papa, Clumsy, Grouchy, and Vanity to rescue her. The movie reportedly has a Hindi song called Na Na Na (Nice vs Naughty) in the dubbed Hindi version.
Other releases include Rabba Main Kya Karoon featuring Arshad Warsi and Paresh Rawal, Chor Chor Superchor featuring Deepak Dobriyal, The Conjuring starring Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, and R.I.P.D starring Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds.
