New Delhi: After a lacklustre show in the past month, Bollywood may be gearing up for a game-changer as Imtiaz Ali's much anticipated Highway hits the screens today.
Starring Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda in the lead roles, Highway comes from the team which gave us the blockbuster Rockstar in 2011. A R Rahman's music has already created a strong buzz. Alia has also crooned a song in the movie. The story revolves around a young girl who gets abducted just few days before her marriage and the journey that follows changes not just her life but her attitude towards life on the whole. It is touted as a story of finding freedom in captivity.
Also in contention for screenspace is the Hollywood film The Monuments Men, which reaches the Indian theatres two weeks after its international release. Directed by George Clooney, the film boasts of an ensemble cast including Clooney himself, Matt Damon, John Goodman, Bill Murray and Cate Blanchett. The film, set against the backdrop of the Second World War, follows an allied army unit comprised of museum curators and art historians who strive to protect pieces of art from being stolen or damaged during the war. The film has not received favourable reviews abroad but die-hard Clooney fans may change its fortunes in India.
Also vying for your ticket money will be Darr @ The Mall starring Jimmy Shergill and Nushrat Bharucha in the lead roles. The film is directed by Pavan Kirpalani who has the successful horror flick Ragini MMS to his credit. The premise of the film revolves around a yet-to-open mall which is labelled haunted and the paranormal activities that take place there on the night before its launch.
