Today's big releases: <i>Vishwaroop</i>, <i>David</i> and <i>Midnight's Children</i>
Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroop, Bejoy Nambiar's David and Deepa Mehta's Midnight's Children are up for release today.
New Delhi: It's a triple whammy at the box office today.

Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroop, the Hindi version of his Rs 95 crore thriller currently banned in Tamil Nadu, is first up. Kamal Haasan has written, directed, produced and acted in the film which revolves around a married couple Vishwanath alias Wiz (Kamal), a Kathak exponent, and his wife Nirupama (Pooja Kumar) who finds out her husband has a secret.

Vishwaroop also features Shekhar Kapur and Rahul Bose in pivotal roles and was shot in India as well as US and Canada.

The Tamil version of the film in under a two-week ban (which expires on Wednesday, February 6) imposed by the Tamil Nadu government, which insists that the release of the film could provoke communal tension.

Next up is Bejoy Nambiar's David. The movie features Neil Nitin Mukesh, Vinay Virmani, Vikram, Isha Sharvani, Tabu and Lara Dutta. It is Lara's first film after the birth of her daughter Saira.

David's story revolves around the lives of three men named David who live in in three different parts of the world and in three different eras.

One narrative, set in London in 1975, is about 30-year-old David who works for a dreaded mafia don.

The other story is set in 1999 Mumbai and is about a 19-year-old musician David, a devout Christian. All hell breaks loose for the happy-go-lucky teenage boy when his family gets dragged in a political mess.

The third story revolves around a 40-year-old fisherman David, who lives in Goa in 2010. He falls in love with a hearing and speech impaired girl. But the girl is about to get married to David's friend.

Deepa Mehta's much anticipated film Midnight's Children also releases today. The film is an adaptation of writer Salman Rushdie's award-winning novel of the same name. After much controversies and debates, the film will finally hit the Indian market today.

Midnight's Children boasts of a strong cast with the likes of Shabana Azmi, Seema Biswas, Shriya Saran, Satya Bhabha and Shahana Goswami.
