Turkey is the 'Country Focus' atthe 43rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) this yearwhich will commence in Panaji from November 20.
A total of eight movies - Do Not Forget Me Istanbul,Hidden Lives, Love and Revolution, The Son, TheStranger, Trace, Voice of My Father and Where the FireBurns- have been selected from Turkey to be showcased at the11-day long festival festival.
The collection of movies set against the drasticallychanging political scenario of the country will touch upon theburning issues of modern Turkey.
"We received some very interesting and outstandingentries from Turkey and we did not want to lose them. And alsothe country has never been the festival focus in 10 years sowe thought of doing it this year," IFFI director Shankar Mohantold PTI.
Film Do Not Forget Me Istanbul consists of six,15-minute short films by six different directors. The moviebrings various directors to create stories taking place in andaround Istanbul.
Director A Haluk Unal's Hidden Lives showcases a lovestory between a young photographer and a prospective doctorduring the times when Turkey was undergoing an internal strifeowing to the various political and religious conflicts.
While Love and Revolution showcases the Turkish societyfrom the point of view of a youth.
The 'Country Focus' section of the festival intends topromote a greater understanding of traditions and cultures ofthe focused country's society.
Last year the 'Country Focus' of the festival was US.
