London:
Supermodel Tyra Banks has applaudedfashion bosses at Vogue magazine for banning the use of modelsunder the age of 16.
Last week, Vogue editors across the world adopted a newpolicy to protect the health of models by banning young teensand those suspected of having an eating disorder.
Banks insists the new policy will have a profound affecton the industry, reported Contactmusic.
"I think it's amazing that they're (editors) doing itbecause they do not have to. There is nothing legal sayingthat Vogue had to make this decision. This is something thatthey are doing on their own. When I heard about it... I'mlike, 'Oh my god this is a moment to celebrate.'" Tyra said.
"I live for this, for expanding the definition of beauty, for not having a stereotype and such a one physicality that weall have to live up to, so I applaud Vogue. And this is notjust American Vogue, this is in 19 countries, this is everysingle Vogue on the entire globe so that's pretty amazing,"she added.
The 38-year-old, who got her first break at the age of15, said many teens destroy their bodies just for the chanceto land a feature in the iconic publication.
