New Delhi:
After a stint at Cannes, Vikramaditya Motwane's directorial debut Udaan has now won big at the Giffoni Film Festival in Italy, bagging the Audience Choice Award along with the trophy for Best Music Score.
The film about a teenager's journey to self discovery was also awarded the Campania Regional Council Award at Giffoni, the world's largest children's Film Festival.
"These three awards are the first for Udaan and therefore special. I am really happy for Amit and Amitabh, who did a fabulous job," Motwane told PTI.
The film starring debutante Rajat Barmecha, TV stars Ram Kapoor, Ronit Roy and child star Aayan Boradia was the only Indian entry in the festival's competition section and was screened in the 'Generator+16' category
Described as a "story of violence and alcohol, steel and poetry, broken dreams and hope" the film set in Jamshedpur, also won big for it's music composed and written by Amit Trivedi and Amitabh Bhattacharya.
The film was the first Indian film to be a part of Cannes' official section in seven years.
