Telugu film actor Uday Kiran, whowas one the youngest winners of the Filmfare best actor award,died after allegedly committing suicide at his house on January 5, 2014.
The 33-year-old actor's wife found his bodyhanging from the ceiling at his flat in Sri Nagar colony, police said.He was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Uday Kiran was reportedly depressed over the last four years, specially after his mother's death and his strained relations with his father, who also lives elsewhere in Hyderabad. Uday Kiran is said to have conveyed to close friends through SMS that he would resort to the extreme step. His wife was away attending a birthday party on Sunday evening and returned home to check because Uday Kiran was not answering his phone.
Uday Kiran made his cinematic debut with Telugu romantic-drama Chitram in 2000, directed by Teja. His first three films - Chitram, Nuvvu Nenu and Manasantha Nuvve were box office hits, which earned him the title, 'hat-trick hero'.
Subsequently, he starred in romantic films including NeeSneham and Kalusukovalani.
In 2001, he won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor -Telugu for the film Nuvvu Nenu, and became the youngest winnerafter Kamal Haasan.
In 2003, the actor was engaged to Chiranjeevi's daughter but the marriage was called off for unknown reasons. In October last year, Uday married his longtime friend Vishita.
In 2006, he made his Tamil debut with the film Poi,directed by veteran K Balachander.
His other performances have been in the films Sreeram,Avunanna Kaadanna and Nuvvekaddunte Nenakkadunta.
His last film was the Telugu action film Jai Sriram (2013). He had also recently signed a project titled Dhil Kabbadi.
