Lara Dutta, who ispaired opposite Vinay Pathak in their upcoming film ChaloDilli, says the unusual cast is the USP for small films andit helps lure audience into the theatres.
"If I have to remember an unusual star cast I would sayWake Up Sid that had Ranbir Kapoor and Konkana Sen. In ourfilm as well, Vinay and me come from different filmbackgrounds... what sparks audience's interest is the reasonwhy we have been paired. It acts as the USP of such films,"Lara told PTI.
"Generally the audience wants to see an unusual star cast. A question of why only these two actors were chosen for the film and whatis their purpose in the film. Also, it is an added plus pointfor me when I got to know that Vinay is acting in it.. Iwanted to work with him," she added.
When asked is Akshay Kumar doing a cameo, the former MissUniverse said, "I don't know who is there in a cameo role,there could be anyone - Mahesh Bhupathi or Akshay Kumar... whoknows."
Directed by Shashant Shah of Dasvidaniya fame, ChaloDilli is a journey which along with the two protagonists -Lara and Vinay showcases the real India and its colorful andfunny people with their eccentricities.
About her role, the 32-year-old actress said, "I playMihika Banerjee. I will describe her as an upper class elite,completely obsessively compulsive disordered perfectionist.She finds herself on a journey with Manu Gupta (Vinay) who isa Chandni Chowk resident, running a sari shop in Karol Bagh.He is a burping, farting, pan chewing lower middle class sortof a man."
She has no choice but to rely on this person as theyget joined together on this journey. For her this journeybecomes a hell while for Manu it is not a big deal, Lara said.
"The film is about learning some truth about life, comingin contact with real people, real situations. It is not asocial message film or anything like that. It is a fun andsimple story. I can't tell you if she falls in love with himor not. But its a real story. In this journey we had tried toadd humour, human relations."
It has been produced by Eros International in associationwith Big Daddy Productions of husband Mahesh Bhupathi andBheegi Basanti production. The film is set for release onApril 29.
