Vega Tamotia's next a rom-com opposite Vir Das

New Delhi: Actress Vega Tamotia, who is allset to make her Bollywood debut with Chittagong, has baggeda romantic comedy opposite Vir Das.

The 27-year-old, who has already worked in Tamil andTelegu movies, just finished shooting the film tentativelytitled Amit Sahni Ki List and says her role is completelyopposite from her freedom fighter character in Chittagong.

"My next film is a romantic comedy opposite Vir Das. Ifinished shooting for it last month. It is completelydifferent from the one I play in 'Chittagong'. I play a fun,mad woman in it," Vega told PTI.

Chittagong has been directed byscientist-turned-filmmaker Bedabrata Pain and is set againstthe backdrop of the Chittagong uprising in 1930s, where agroup of schoolboys and young women, led by a schoolteacher,Masterda Surya Sen, took on the British Empire.

Vega plays Pritilata Waddedar in the film."I auditioned for the role. I have an amazing character.It is small but meaningful. With this film I got anopportunity to share screen space with actors like ManojBajpai, Nawazuddin Siddiqui. I was happy to be part of theproject which is being backed by Anurag Kashyap and I feelthis is the best platform for me to get noticed in the Hindifilm industry," she said.

Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan turnedup for the special screening of the film last week in Mumbaiand Vega said that she could not believe that her childhoodcrush Shahrukh praised her performance.

"I am a huge Shahrukh fan. I was shocked to see himthere. He was such a gentleman. I did not expect he would beso gracious. He liked the film, he tweeted about it. We laterexchanged texts and he wrote 'I hope our film does so well'. Iam a bigger fan now," she said.

Chittagong will hit screens this Friday.When asked what kind of roles she wants to take up infuture, Vega said, "I want to do everything. It is fun beingan actor and I want to work in all genres. That is the thrillof being an actor. I would rather have a meaty role than aglamorous role.

"I don't like decorating the frame, I want to dosomething which will contribute to the story. I did not cometo this profession with an aspiration to do such roles," sheadded.
