Mumbai:
Veteran actor Sadhana, who has alleged that builder Yusuf Lakdawala wants to evict her from the house where she has been living as a tenant for decades, was briefly arrested today and then released on bail. It is a technical arrest.
She had met Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil for unbiased mediation in her property dispute in June this year. A local court had then summoned the actress to record her statement in connection with a private complaint filed by Yusuf Lakdawala charging her for making defamatory statements against him.
Sadhana had in August 2010 lodged a complaint with the Santa Cruz Police accusing Lakdawala of issuing death threats and trying to force her to vacate her 3000 sq ft house. Sadhana has lived in this house for over 50 years, as a tenant of legendary singer Asha Bhosle.
Following the complaint, Lakdawala was arrested in November and let off on bail after a day.
The builder had also approached the Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate claiming that he had been falsely implicated and defamed by Sadhana as he had never threatened the actress.
