Veteran actor Jose Prakash, who carveda niche for himself in the Malayalam film industry with hisportrayal of negative roles, passed away at a private hospitalhere today. He was 87.
Prakash is survived by four sons and two daughters.
The actor was admitted to the hospital on March 18following multiple disorders and the end came this afternoon,hospital sources said.
The actor's last film was a brief appearance in Trafficreleased few months ago and Sibi Malayil's Ente VeeduAppuvinteyum.
Beginning his career as a singer in 1953, Prakash debutedin cinema with Bhaktha Kuchela and went on to essay mainlynegative roles in nearly 300 films. He later made his presencefelt in character roles also.
The actor's death comes a day after the state governmentselected him for this year's prestigious J C Daniel award forhis contributions to the Malayalam film industry.
The funeral is expected to be held on Monday.
