New Delhi:
Actors Annu Kapoor and Dolly Ahluwalia, who have won the National Awards for Best Supporting Actor and Actress respectively, for their quirky roles in Vicky Donor, are humbled with the recognition.
"This is all thanks to my director (Shoojit Sircar) and my audience for having faith and seeing me as Dolly Arora. For me, being happy is a small word. I am flying right now," Dolly, who played a loving mother to debutant Ayushmann Khurrana in the movie, said in a statement.
She shared the award with Kalpana for Malayalam film Thanichalla Njan.
"For me, this is still a dream. National Awards have a true meaning for me and I am blessed," added the actress-designer, who first won a National Award for costume designing in 1996 for Bandit Queen.
Actor Annu Kapoor, who played a Baldev Chaddha, a fertility expert in the movie said: "I feel humbled and express my gratitude for the National Award, which I dedicate to my mother, late Shrimati Kamal Kapoor."
Vicky Donor, produced by actor John Abraham, itself was named the Best Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment in 2012. It shares the honour with Malayalam project Ustad Hotel.
Ayushmann Khurrana, who played the lead in Vicky Donor, was happy with the recognition for his debut film.
"It's extremely overwhelming and I am proud to be a part of this project, which has a rare combo of quirk and credibility," said Ayushmann.
