Chennai: The protesters were detained by police and released later.
The transgenders are upset that their community has been shown in bad light in I, which stars Vikram and Amy Jackson in lead roles.
Unhappy over the way their community had been portrayed in director Shankar's new Tamil film I, a group of transgenders today staged a protest in front of the regional office of the Censor Board here, demanding an apology.
"We earlier planned to stage a protest in front of Shankar's house but changed it. Today we staged a protest in front of Censor Board office in Chennai," Swapna one of the 30 transgenders, who took part in the agitation, said. "We have been up against the film for portraying us in bad light. We want the director to apologise, else we will take legal action," she added.
