Mumbai: Actor Vir Das will be seen speaking 'fluent Punjabi' for in upcoming films Santa Banta and 31st October.
The 36-year-old comedian-actor, who is taking Punjabi classes to learn the nuances of the language, is playing a Sikh character in both the films.
"It was fun learning Punjabi, I now have another language in my list and I always like doing a character by completely being engrossed in it, there is no half way," Vir said in a statement.
Comedy movie Santa Banta also features Boman Irani and Neha Dhupia in lead roles. 31st October, based on the 1984 riots, stars Soha Ali Khan opposite Vir. It is a true life story of a Sikh family. (Also Read: Vir Das Writes Open Letter After Cops Show up At Delhi Gig)
Vir Das was last seen in 2014 films Shaadi Ke Side Effects, Revolver Rani and Amit Sahni Ki List.
