Vivek Agnihotri: My next film a mix of Dil Chahta Hai and Deewar
Vivek Agnihotri's last movie was Hate Story
Mumbai: Looking forward to his upcoming filmFreedom, director Vivek Agnihotri says the movie is likeDil Chahta Hai meeting Deewar.

Freedom, a political thriller, is set in differentperiods from 1984 to 2000.

"It is a drama, not a satire. It is about the journeyof youth, the journey post liberalisation. How the journey oftalented, intelligent, gifted, the real cream of the countrychanged post liberalisation," Vivek, of Hate Story fame, told PTI.

"This film explores parent-son relationship as well aschemistry among friends. It is like Dil Chahta Hai meetingDeewar," he said.

The Aamir Khan starrer Dil Chahta Hai (2001) was acoming of age film of three friends while megastar AmitabhBachchan's Deewar (1975) was a crime drama.

Agnihotri says the film is a culmination of a lot ofincidents that happened in India and whatever he hasexperienced or seen personally.

"The film is about the ambition of three boys and howthe family and society make contributions in those ambitions. For seven-eight years I was trying to make this film butnobody was willing to do it as I wanted people who would dojustice to it," he said.

"Luckily Hate Story became successful and producerswere willing to put money. In India, we surrender andcompromise. We end up getting a star who is not fitting thecharacter," he said.

The film stars Dance India Dance fame Salman Khan, who made his acting debut with Remo D'Souza's Any Body CanDance.

"I was not aware that he (Salman Khan) was in DanceIndia Dance. I have been wanting to make this film for a longtime. I think he is perfect for the film. He is a good actorand a mind-blowing dancer," Agnihotri said.
