New Delhi:
He came to flag off ahouse-building charity here but actor Vivek Oberoi landed uplocked in a room for hours as a sea of crowd gathered to catcha glimpse of the star.
The Saathiya actor was in Bawana village on theoutskirts of Delhi to promote a CSR initiative by CathayPacific and Habitat for Humanity, when hundreds of villagers, mostly young guys and girls, thronged the tiny communitycentre to see him.
The 34-year-old actor was supposed to lay bricks forthe foundation of three houses, but the curious mob made itimpossible for the event to go on outdoors and Vivek wasquickly whisked in before his fans got anywhere close to him.
"I was outside interacting, when the mob increased innumber and I was dragged in. I am holed up in here, don't knowwhen I'll be able to get out. My car is just fifty feet awaybut the way towards it is packed with people," Vivek told PTI.
There were people everywhere, blocking the gates, onthe boundary walls and roof-tops. Little kids were hangingfrom the windows of the room where Vivek was seated.
"You have to constantly tell yourself that it is allbecause they love you. I enjoy the attention but sometimes thesituation gets a little out of hand," he added.
The situation here got so out of hand here thatorganisers had to call the police to clear the mob and let theactor out.
"We anticipated some crowd to gather, but had notexpected such a large turn out. We've had other house-buildingevents before, but this is the first time we have encounteredsuch a thing," said Ashish Kapur from Cathay Pacific.
