Mumbai:
Proud father Abhishek Bachchan can't wait to have his new born daughter and wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan home.
"It is a momentous occasion for the family and we are overwhelmed with all the love we have received from all our fans, media and the industry. Both Aishwarya and the baby are doing great and we can't wait to have them home," the actor said in a statement issued here.
"This is a very overwhelming and exciting phase we enter into and hope to have your continued love and support," he added.
Aishwarya, 38, gave birth to a baby girl on Wednesday morning at the private Seven Hills Hospital where she was admitted on Monday night.
Abhishek also thanked the media for its support. "I would specially like to thank the media for being so supportive, kind and respectful at such an important juncture in our lives. It means the world to us," he added.
Following speculative reports about the baby's birth, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry had asked the electronic media to maintain restraint in reporting and respect the privacy of the Bachchan family.
