Unlike the other Deols in filmbiz, Abhay Deol is not particularly known for his action abilities. Abhay is better known for his portrayal of edgy, suave or happy go lucky characters. In his last film, Zoya Akhtar's Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, the character he played needed him to go through life-challenging adventures, eventually telling his fiancé that he doesn't want to marry her. But there was very little of the dhishoom-dhishoom stuff in it. So it came as a surprise when we heard that Abhay would be doing high voltage action sequences in Prakash Jha's Chakravyuh.
At the trailer launch of the film about the Naxals and their problems, Abhay was asked about his experience of working with Jha. He said "It was like a picnic and we had a lot of fun shooting this film." But it was not actually all fun and games, as he added, "This is my first action film and there was a lot of running around to do. If I hurt myself while running, Prakashji would tie a crepe bandage around my leg and ask me to continue running. Not that I had much of a choice!"
Wethinks it would be a welcome change to see Abhay getting his hands (and legs) dirty, and prove that he is as macho as the other men in the Deol family.
