Chennai:
Telugu director Sridhar Pokuru, whose debut movie Agnatham is set to release Nov 16, says the male-dominated film industry needs more women-centric projects.
"We need more films that highlight the problems faced by women in the society. The general misconception about women is that they are weak and can't stand up against their problems, but they're strong," Sridhar told IANS.
Agnatham, which stars Kalyani and Subbaraju in lead roles, is a story of two women, who join hands and fight for women in the society who are subjected to discrimination and cruelty.
Sridhar says the movie will also have its share of commercial elements to appeal to everyone.
"You need to address such sensitive issues with precision. Although, my film will bring forth different problems faced by women in the society, I haven't restricted myself from including elements that are entertaining," Pokuru added.
The film is produced by S.V.S Rao, and also stars M.S Narayana, Krishna Bhagwan, Jeeva, Banarjee and Tanikella Bharani in important roles.
