Week-long musical treat at Yogic Temple

Coimbatore: Sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan,violinist L Subramaniam besides other top-notch artists wouldenthrall people during week-long celebrations from February 13at a Yogic temple as part of Shivarathri festival.

Padma Bhushan and Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee AlarmelValli, considered a paragon of the Pandanallur style of IndianClassical Dance form of Bharatanatyam, will perform on theinaugural day of 'Yaksha,' the one-week celebrations.

Noted exponent of Kirana Gharana of Hindustani classicalmusic, Padma Bhushan and Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee PanditChanniulal Mishra will peform on February 14.

Hindustani classical and pop singer Shubha Mudgal willtake to the stage on February 15. The next day will seeRavikiran, well-known Carnatic musician and composer andSantoor player Tarun Bhattacharya will come together for ajugalbandi, an official spokesman for Isha Foundation, theorganisers, told reporters here today.

Other performers in the Dhyanalinga Yogic Temple at theIshaYoga Centre will include Carnatic musician NeyveliSanthanagopalan.

The Yaksha will lead to the Mahashivarathri celebrationson February 20, where more than eight lakh people areexpected to gather at the Centre, to hear the discourse bySadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, the founder, interspersed with musicalperformances by Padmashri Wasifuddin Dagar, famed classicalsinger of Dhrupad genre.

Popular playback singer Kailash Kher and 'Colonial Cousins'Hariharan and Leslie Lewis would also perform, the spokesmansaid.
