New Delhi: Varun Dhawan's Judwaa 2, a remake of Salman Khan's 1997 blockbuster Judwaa, hit the screens today. Ahead of the film's release, Varun, who earlier dedicated the film to the 51-year-old superstar, tweeted a picture of himself with Salman and wrote, "I'm not influenced from any Hollywood actor but influenced by Salman Khan. Thank you for being my Raja and Prem. the film is yours now." 20 years later, Varun stepped into the shoes of Salman and brought back the iconic characters - Raja and Prem - but
Judwaa 2, according to critics, doesn't match up to Salman's film. Despite the same story plot and director, t
he film opened to poor reviews. Both
Judwaa films are directed by David Dhawan, Varun's father.
Here's the picture shared by Vaun.
Earlier, when the trailer of the film was unveiled, Salman, 51, shared the trailer of
Judwaa 2 on Twitter and wrote, "
Judwaa 1 tweeting for
Judwaa 2. To which, Varun replied, "You will always be the original
Judwaa bhai."
Of
Judwaa 2, Varun earlier said, "
This film wouldn't be possible without Salman bhai. 20 years back he made Raja and Prem iconic, he is the original Raja/Prem and will always be the original. I hope he likes the film whenever he watches it." Salman has a cameo in
Judwaa 2 and the revamped version of the hit songs -
Oonchi Hai Building and
Tan Tana Tan are also there.
Judwaa 2 stars Taapsee Pannu and Jacqueline Fernandez opposite Varun while actor Vivan Bhatena plays the antagonist Tiger.
