R&B star Janelle Monae broke down in tears on Queen Latifah's talk show after meeting a fan inspired to look and sound just like her.
The 29-year-old Tightrope singer surprised 10-year-old McKynzie Duhon, who has posted videos of herself performing Janelle's songs online, during a segment filmed for the show - but the star got more from the get-together than her protege, reported Ace Showbiz.
Look-alike McKynzie was left speechless when her idol walked in on her while she was performing along to a video backstage before the show, but as she explained what the singer meant to her, Janelle fought back tears - and then she broke down as her fan's mum thanked the diva for being her daughter's role model.
"I'm getting just emotional. When I walked in and I saw her singing and dancing, never in a million years did I think that I would see a young black girl wanting to look like me. I'm just so thankful," Janelle said. "The fact that you see something in me, I just want you to know that you don't have to be perfect. Perfection is often the enemy of greatness. You are enough. You can be bigger than me. I don't take it for granted and I hope that I continue to make you proud," Janelle added.
