Saif Ali Khan and Sara in Mumbai
New Delhi:
Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh's daughter Sara Ali Khan will soon be making her Bollywood debut with Abhishek Kapoor's Kedarnath, co-starring Sushant Singh Rajput, and the 47-year-old actor has expressed his concern as a father on how Sara will deal with failure. In an interview with mid-day Saif Ali Khan said, "What worries me is the kind of relationships she is going to have. Or for that matter, how she will deal with failure - will she get upset and cry about them? These are things that niggle at me." The Kurbaan actor added that his concern was 'pretty normal for any father.' "I wouldn't say I am nervous because I am not living vicariously through her," mid-day quoted Saif Ali Khan as saying.
Saif Ali Khan said that being a part of Abhishek Kapoor's Kedarnath is Sara's 'independent decision' and he hasn't discussed the script of the film with her.
"She simply came to me and told me that she is doing Kedarnath. We never discussed the script in detail, as I don't think my opinion matters. Since it is her independent decision, she is happy to either fly with it or go down with it," Saif told mid-day.
Saif Ali Khan says that the only advice he has given his daughter is that she must 'stay true to her job as an artiste.'
"I'm happy Sara is doing something she is passionate about. The only thing I have told her is to stay true to her job as an artiste. But Kareena [Kapoor Khan] pointed out that I started taking interest in my work only recently and found my way. I hope she too finds her way," mid-day quoted Saif Ali Khan as saying.
Earlier it was reported that Saif Ali Khan was unsure about daughter Sara Ali Khan's acting debut and he and his ex-wife Amrita Singh had different opinions about her debut film.
In an interview with DNA, the Race actor said that he is unhappy that Sara, who is a graduate of Columbia University in New York, has chosen to pursue acting as her career.
"Why would she want that for herself? Look at where she studied. After having done that, why wouldn't she want to live and work in New York, rather than do this? I am not looking down on acting, it's just it is not the most stable profession. And everyone lives in constant fear. And there is no guarantee that despite doing your best, you will succeed. This is not the life, any parent would want for their children," Saif told DNA.
In an interview with news agency IANS, Saif Ali Khan dismissed the reports, saying he is 'fully supportive' of Sara's acting ambition.
"Amrita and me are on the same page as far as Sara and her acting debut is concerned. We never had any such conversation. I am fully supportive of Sara's acting ambitions and we discuss things in detail," IANS quoted Saif Ali Khan as saying.
"I repeat, that I am looking forward to Sara's debut with a mix of excitement, anxiety and nervousness like any other father would," he added.
On the other hand, there had been reports stating that Sara's mother Amrita was interfering in her daughter's debut film. A report in DNA claimed that she refused to let her daughter Sara Ali Khan wear a bikini onscreen.
The shooting of Kedarnath began earlier this month. The film will narrate a love story, which has been set in the backdrop of the holy temple town of Kedarnath, Uttarakhand. Sushant will be seen portraying the role of a pithu, who carries pilgrims to the shrine while Sara will feature as a young woman, who accompanies a pilgrim to the holy town.
Kedarnath is Sushant Singh Rajput's second film with director Abhishek Kapoor after 2013 movie Kai Po Che!.
Kedarnath is scheduled for release in 2018.
