While blue ticks might be MIA from a lot of Twitter accounts today, drama isn't. A little background for those who require one. Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and several other Bollywood stars lost their verified blue tick icons after Twitter removed it from handles that did not pay for its monthly subscription. Blue ticks or no blue ticks, memes are keeping Twitter busy and celebs too took the opportunity to share fun tweets from their handles. Shahid Kapoor channeled his inner meme artist and shared an ROFL tweet with a Kabir Singh 'touch' (pun intended). "Mere blue tick ko kisne touch kiya... Elon, tu wahi ruk main aaraha hu ( who touched my blue tick...Elon (Musk), you stay there, I am coming)." He tweaked the dialogue from his 2019 hit Kabir Singh and added, "Haha."
Don't miss the Kabir Singh reference in Shahid Kapoor's tweet.
Aditi Rao Hydari, sans blue tick, tweeted, "Once upon a time there was a blue tick... did Twitter and I live happily ever after?! #GoFigure."
Actor-comedian Vir Das tweeted, "Bye blue tick. I'm okay with someone impersonating me on twitter. YOU deal with the things they call me." In a separate tweet, he wrote, "I like this world. To verify an artist, buy tickets, not ticks."
Rockstar actress Nargis Fakhri tweeted, "I never really come on here. I just noticed I'm no longer verified with that blue thingy. So now everyone with a blue check pays a fee for it. Hmm okay. if anyone can buy it then what's the point."
Our favourite, however, has to be the one from Amitabh Bachchan, who is super active on the social media platform. Big B tweeted, "Twitter! Are you listening? I have paid for the subscription service... so please put back the blue lotus in front of my name, so that people know that I am Amitabh Bachchan. I am making the request with folded hands... now should I fall in your feet?"
Prakash Raj tweeted, "Bye bye Blue Tick It was nice having you, my journey, my conversations, my sharing, will continue with my people, you take care #justasking."
Sophie Choudry's tweet read, "Blue tick gone for @SrBachchan @sachin_rt, @BeingSalmanKhan and many many more. Looks like I'm in esteemed company #bluetick #byebye."
TV star Rashami Desai's tweet read, "Just feeling amazing about everything about this morning IDK ! but...Elon Musk, I love you."
TV actor Kushal Tandon wrote, "Good morning to all the unverified humans here. Musk melon ki Jai jooooo."
