Aamir Khan and Ajay Devgn recently reunited during the mahurat of the upcoming film, Tera Yaar Hoon Main. While interacting with the media, the actors, who shared screen space in the 1997 film Ishq, shared hilarious anecdotes and throwback incidents when they were shooting for the film. One of the reasons why Ishq is such a cult classic is because of the on-screen bromance of the lead actors. Talking about their camaraderie, they recalled an incident when Aamir Khan was attacked by a chimpanzee during the shoot of the movie.
Remember the chimpanzee sequence? That chimp actually attacked me once!" Aamir reminisced. "Yes, but it was fun. And who was the one spraying water on me? It was him, and afterward, he ran off like a girl," Ajay said, adding, "He was spraying water on chimpanzee, and then he started running around screaming 'Bachao Bachao.'"
"No, he saved me! He even pulled me out of a moving car, doing all the stunts himself," Aamir chimed in, praising Ajay's action skills.
Ishq, directed by Indra Kumar, also featured Juhi Chawla, Kajol, and Johnny Lever, among others. The movie is fondly remembered for the seamless fusion of comedy, romance, and action. When its lead actors reunited on stage, the speculations of a sequel were inevitable. During the event, Ajay said, "I was just telling him we had so much fun on the set of Ishq; we should do another one," to which Aamir readily agreed, saying, "Yeah, we should."
Director Indra Kumar was also asked recently during an interview about the possibility of a sequel to the 1997 classic. "Neki aur puch puch? The only thing is that to make a sequel that matches up to the original is a big task. Aisi script bhi toh likhni chahiye na (Doing a good deed and asking if you should? The only thing is that making a sequel that matches up to the original is a big task. We'd need to write a worthy script as well,)" the director replied.
He also enthusiastically shared that he would immediately start working on the script if Ajay and Aamir asked him to. "If Ajay and Aamir ask me to start work on it, then why not? If they tell me script likho, toh main kal se hi likhna shuru kar du (I'll start writing from tomorrow itself.) Once they confirm and discuss the signing amount, then we will be good to go," he concluded.
