Aishwarya was last seen in the 2010 film Guzaarish.
New Delhi:
She is known for her beautiful smile and diplomatic demeanour, but Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was visibly agitated at a press conference in Mumbai when asked why senior actresses were being offered only 'item numbers'.
"These are questions that should be asked to rest of the business. These are not the question that should be directed at an actor," the actress said. It wasn't clear whether it was the term 'item number' or the tag 'senior actress' that annoyed Aishwarya.
Aishwarya, a talented dancer, has appeared in item numbers like Ishq Kamina from 2002 film Shakti and Kajra Re from Bunty Aur Babli (2005), which set the standard for item songs in Bollywood. But it seems she'd rather not talk about item songs.
Aishwarya was rumoured to have been asked to appear in an item number in her Guzaarish director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming film Ram Leela. The reports were vehemently denied by both Aishwarya as well as Mr Bhansali.
Meanwhile, Ash also declined to comment on her long-awaited comeback, saying, "I have been reading scripts and work is getting finalised. But it has always been the prerogative of the directors and producers to make the announcement. So that's why I never do it."
