New Delhi:
Sidharth Malhotra and Sonakshi Sinha are prepping for the release of their upcoming murder-mystery Ittefaq. Juno Chopra of BR Films, one of the co-producers of Ittefaq, told news agency IANS that the makers of the film are trying to raise the level of crime thrillers in Hindi cinema and they want to push conventional cinema's boundaries with Ittefaq. The film is co-produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, Dharma Productions and BR films. The film is an adaptation of a Yash Chopra film by the same name, which starred Rajesh Khanna, Madan Puri and Nanda in the lead roles and was produced by Juno Chopra's late grandfather Baldev Raj Chopra.
Of 1969's Ittefaq, Juno Chopra told IANS: "Though our Hindi cinema is known for the song-dance sagas, in the late 1960s' era, when songs used to play an important part of storytelling, Ittefaq was one of the films with no songs in it. Our grandfather (late Baldev Raj Chopra) tried to push the boundary of conventional cinema with that film. As a youngster, it was our dream to recreate the same. This film is a dream."
When asked if there was any creative challenge to establish a relevance of the story in today's time, Juno Chopra said, "You see, no challenges can be hard enough that can't be worked out. As I said, it was on our wish list. Abhay Chopra and I worked really hard to make the story interesting. Yes, there were challenges but, that drives us to do better," reports IANS.
Juno Chopra also told IANS: "We do not want any part of the story goes out before the film releases and therefore we are not talking much about the story of the film and not giving an insight."
In the trailer, it can be seen that two murders happen on one night and there are two suspects, Sonakshi and Sidharth. The trailer shows the story from two perspectives. The story of the film shows three sides - Vikram (played by Sidharth), Maya (played by Sonakshi) and the truth.

Abhay and Juno Chopra also produced Bareilly ki Barfi, starring Ayushmann Khurrana , Kriti Sanon and Rajkummar Rao, which was appreciated by the audience.
Of Bareilly ki Barfi, Juno Chopra said, "I would like to thank every person in the audience who supported Bareily Ki Barfi and made it a commercial success. It surely has given us, as young producers, a level of confidence about identifying the potentially good story that matches the taste of our audience," reports IANS.
Juno Chopra also expects that the audience will come to the theatre and watch Ittefaq because it has a great story, reports IANS.
Yesterday, filmmaker Karan Johar shared three posters of Ittefaq, featuring the main characters of the film.
Ittefaq is scheduled to release on November 3.
