Why Kangana Ranaut looks "really lame" in Queen

Why Kangana Ranaut looks "really lame" in <i>Queen</i>
Kangana also said that the song Hungama was inserted into the script due to the director’s fascination with the original Bindu song
New Delhi: Kangana Ranaut's now-famous fashion savvy helped her not at all in her new movie Queen, and the actress says that's just fine.

In the upcoming movie, Kangana plays Rani or Queen who is more than a little outdated in fashion terms - wearing, for instance, a cardigan over her mehendi outfit - and just this once, Kangana is OK not looking her usual glamorous self.

Kangana told NDTV: "The idea was to make this girl look really lame. She thinks she's stylish but in 2014 she's somewhere a few years behind."

Kangana also gave Queen director Vikas Bahl a shout-out, saying: "Very courageous of him to go with someone who has chosen to play a superhero on screen and then he wanted me to play someone who doesn't know how to put things together."

Kangana fans will have to wait a bit longer to see her go on her honeymoon alone on celluloid as Queen will release on March 7 instead of this Friday as originally planned. Vikas Bahl says that's because he wanted the to-be-released song Hungama - his take on the hit song featuring actress Bindu from 1973 film Anhonee - get more airplay.

The song was entirely Bindu fan Vikas Bahl's idea. Kangana, who also featured in a modern version of Kajra Mohabbatwala from 1968's Kismat in her 2011 hit film Tanu Weds Manu, said: "We were doing script readings and at that time he came up with this song. He showed me Binduji, wearing boots and bouffant hair, going Hungama ho gaya."

Mr Bahl concurred: "I wanted that song and I wanted that dance and we figured out how to put it in the film."

Will Kangana's Queen create Hungama at the box office? The answer to that in a week-and-a-half.
